Whole Family Reflection Tool- Capture Change in an Intervention
Whole Family Reflection Tool- Capture Change in an Intervention
I made a resource "Whole Family Activity Pack" to capture children's goals early on in an intervention, the main concepts are around what they loved about their family currently and what they wanted more of.
However, what I was lacking was a resource to gather any changes the children had observed/identified half way or two thirds into the intervention. I was thinking that if the children have identified any changes, I want them to name it, which will empower the family in the change work, encourage them to maintain the positive change/s, and I think it's so positive for the parents/carers to also hear the about the wins.
So, I have made this "Whole Family Reflection Tool" which focuses on three questions:
1. What is working?- This question also includes the image of a flower, for the children and parents to add their responses. The bloomed flower symbolises the positive growth/flourishing the family is experiencing.
2.What is the family looking forward to?- This question includes the image of a rainbow, for the children and parents to add their responses. The rainbow symbolises that hard times happen, like heavy rain, but after the rain ends a rainbow comes out. This question creates space to think of things to look forward to as a family, to empower the family to create their own hope.
3.What have been the best changes?- This question includes the image of a hand planting a tree, for the children and parents to add their responses. The hand planting the tree resembles the family taking intentional actions for change and growth. This question will provide space for the children to identify what has been better in the family.
I have observed some amazing conversations come out of this tool, and incredible change that I could not have named because it's not my family and I'm not living there in the day to day. I think it's pretty incredible for children to be empowered to be part of the family work when it is safe and appropriate to do so and I think this tool works well for these situations. It provides clarity for areas you may want to focus on as your intervention finishes or possible referrals for when you are to close.
3x-pages in A4 PDF. I print it out in A3.
