I made this pack of communication cards to use as resource to support a conversation in a family about who they communicate too, what information do they share, and how do they share it in a range of relationships. Through the use of the cards, different family members will explain their ideas about safe and unsafe communication and why something is ok or isn't ok. This creates space for the young people to express themselves and have a voice in the conversation. From here, there will be increased family understanding and ongoing confidence in having these tough conversations. 

What topics do these cards help with?

-Sharing intimate images with others

-Sharing personal information (date of birth, address, parents details, school information)

-Sharing our body with clothes and no clothes with another person. The other person may be in our family, community, or online. 

-Sharing our voice, feelings and about our day. How do we cope with big feelings and who do we share with to try and feel better? Could it be posting online, sending a Snap Chat to a friend, making a tiktok, talking to a parent, hanging with a cousin, or perhaps we don't share it with anyone and keep it to ourselves by spending time alone. 

There are so many directions the conversations can go, which is one of the awesome features of these cards. 

The pack includes details of how to use the cards to structure the conversation, whether your the parent facilitating the conversation or family worker like me.
