From Social Worker to E-commerce Risk Taker

From Social Worker to E-commerce Risk Taker

I actually Googled this week to find a social worker who is engaging in ecommerce and seeing if I could find any articles about transitioning into this space.

I am a family worker with a Masters of Social Work. I make a ton of resources that respond to the needs of the families I am working with, whether that’s around the family structure, family connection, tech safety, social skills, problem solving skills, family conflict, or struggling with big emotions.

There is a part of me that questions if I can transition into this ecommerce world well, and every time I doubt myself I remember that I use these tools with families, I have tested them out. I have observed positive engagement and change using the resources I make. I think the reason behind this is my tools empower parents to lead the change, they can take the tool and use it to navigate challenging conversations with their kids and teach their kids important life skills. It’s pretty powerful and empowering for parents.

I am taking a risk, my first physical product will be posted to me travelling by sea in the next 30 days. However, ecommerce I think starts way before the product is ready to be posted to costumers. It starts now, building relationships with potential customers, networking, learning the process and setting up business structures so it will flourish when we are ready with the product in hand. It’s exciting times ahead, scary, but also exciting.

If you are a social worker who has transitioned to ecommerce, or wanting to, please reach out and we can connect! It would be so awesome to network with other social workers wanting to make changes in our communities but from a different angle.
